    Behind the Envelope

Ever wonder where the envelope at a big industry awards show comes from that is handed to the presenter? For the 5th consecutive year, YANGAROO is managing the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards including handling the submissions, nominations, committee review, voting, results tabulation, and the auditing. So that coveted envelope that announces the big winners, is courtesy of YANGAROO’s DMDS Award Management Solution.

Let’s take a deeper look at what goes into what is deemed as Country Music’s Party of the Year®. This year, the big night is the 50th Annual ACM Awards show and includes an epic lineup to celebrate the golden anniversary show. Country icons Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line are joined by hot newcomers Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, and Cole Swindell for a show that is not to be missed. It’s no surprise that the event has the tendency to sell out within minutes. The ACMs are the biggest awards show to descend upon the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (home to the Dallas Cowboys) yet – with 80,000+ capacity.

What was once a physical and laborious process has shifted to an all-digital (and much more eco-friendly) process via the cloud that has allowed for an increase in the amount of entries due to its simplicity and ease of use. Prior to YANGAROO, awards shows submission process included mailing costs and physical CDs and DVDs with plastic cases that are likely now piled up in landfills. YANGAROO stepped in to provide their DMDS platform technology which provides an easy web interface that’s not only intuitive, but also encrypted and patented to allow for secure management and distribution of content.

You may not realize it, but YANGAROO is the company and technology behind most of the big entertainment industry awards shows in North America today, including The GRAMMY Awards, The Emmys, The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), The MTV Movie Awards, The BET Awards, and The JUNO Awards, among others.

So when you watch the live broadcast of the 50th Annual ACM Awards, co-hosted by Luke Bryan & Blake Shelton on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 8:00 PM on CBS, you will certainly have the behind-the-scenes scoop as to what goes into the process of the biggest shows out there. Undoubtedly, so much more than just an envelope!
