Music from Ireland Arrive in Toronto
Ireland is the focus country at Canadian Music Week as part of Ireland 2016
TORONTO, CANADA May 4, 2016 Music from Ireland, the international programme for emerging Irish musicians presents an impressive programme of Irish bands at key international event, Canadian Music Week (2 – 8 May, Toronto, Canada).
Ireland has been chosen as the focus country for Canadian Music Week 2016 and additional funding for this initiative has been provided through the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme.
This year sees exciting new Irish music from a cross-section of genres – rock, pop, alternative, instrumental, experimental, folk, rap and dance. Industry contacts and music fans will experience a line-up that includes Bagels, Comrade Hat, Elm, Fangclub, Meltybrains?, chart toppers MKAI, Overhead, The Albatross, Ports and Daithí, whose live improvisation on the violin, married to analogue synths and heavy house beats, has won him opening slots for Santigold, Macklemore and The XX.
The official Music from Ireland Official Showcase will be presented on Thursday, May 5th at The Rivoli, 344 Queen Street West, Toronto, starting at 8:30pm.
YANGAROO Music Ireland and YANGAROO (Canada) join forces to provide further support to Ireland as the focus country at CMW. Together they have sponsored the digital delivery of tracks from the seventeen Irish artists attending, to Canadian radio.
